A Case Management of Home Care Nursing for People with Mental Retardation

Abstract

|
Case management is a medical service with which the caregivers assess the needs of patients and their families, then prepare, mediate, monitor, evaluate, and support the service. The method is being most widely utilized in advanced welfare countries, since it enables effcient application of (un)official resources of community on the basis of prior assesment on the patient and service plan. This single case study was on the rehabilitation from the mental retardation. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with the subject. A psychiatric mental nurse practitioner visited the client´s home 12 times. The major nursing problems of the client were the lack of communication skills, and conflicts with other family members. Focuing on these problems, Psychoeducation, role modelling of social skills and stress-coping strategies. The results showed that the clients expressed feelings of satisfaction to the mental health nursing he received.
